The Warm Hearth was founded some time around 1978 by Eric Stamets as a lumber, hardware, and wood burning stove store. The building was originally a wagon repair shop built in 1913. Evolving over the years to serve many different needs in our little town, it is now doing its best to be a fun and magical place shop for tourists and locals alike.
Having been an entire lumber yard at one point then converted to a gift store, The Warm Hearth is pretty darn unique place. The interior is significantly larger that the shop front would have you believe. The most common thing we hear from new visitors is, “oh wow! it keeps going!” Indeed, if you plan to walk the entire shop, do set aside some time. Don’t let it overwhelm you though! We have the store arranged in departments so you can skip what you’re not interested in.
Having been raised along with this business and helping it to grow along the way, the owners take great pride in the merchandise we carry but even more so in experience our customers and employees have.
We have a small shop in the back of our warehouse where we prototype and do small production runs of goods for our store and online retail brand.
Please visit BackwoodsProvisions.com if you would like to see what we’re making and what we have for sale online.
