Our history:

The Warm Hearth was founded by Eric Stamets as a lumber and hardware store in the 1970s but moved towards selling house wares and gifts as tourism grew in Julian. Our building was constructed in 1913 and was primarily used as a feed store for the bulk of the century. Today, the size of our showroom and age of the building has created a very unique shopping experience.


Our mission:

Above all, we strive to provide not just a pleasant shopping experience but a fun and fruitful one, whoever the customer may be. We would like to do the very same with our online store.


Why shop with us?

Though it is difficult to keep up with all the competition online, we hope that you will find our prices to be consistently low. All items are thoroughly inspected, well packaged and shipped promptly by a small staff.  Have you visited our store, remembered something you liked, and couldn't find what you liked on our website?  No problem!  Give us a call or email anytime!  Do your best to describe what you would like from our store, and we will be happy to arrange payment and shipping over the phone.  If you have any questions about your order we can be contacted at any time with quick response via or by phone during business hours.



With the exception of a few drop ship items, we ship all items from Julian (near San Diego), California.



  • It’s OK to change your mind. If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, we're here to help.

  • You have 30 days to return an item from the date of purchase (date that credit card is processed).

  • To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.

  • Please include a proof of purchase via email or printout.



  • Once we receive your item, we will inspect it and notify you that we have received your returned item. We will immediately notify you on the status of your refund after inspecting the item.

  • If your return is approved, we will initiate a refund to your credit card.



  • You will be responsible for paying for your own shipping costs for returning your item. Original shipping costs are generally nonrefundable with some exceptions (i.e. poor packaging, shipping breakage etc.)
